He’d avoid them, Lhaeben decided, eyeing the circling wisps with suspicion. With so many, surely their mother would not be far off. Should she mistake him for a threat, this might become quite ugly, quite quickly. He moved towards the path, briskly, hoping that they would lose interest in him. For now, he dispelled the magic from his fingers, suspicious that the magicka might be drawing the wisps.
A couple of the wisps hesitated at the spot, but none gave chase. The Wispmother, well under cover in the woods, was quite interested in their findings, but would rather wait for him to come to her. No use in having a whole group to deal with when her curiosity was currently only focused on one.
Perhaps this black clad creature would follow the roads as all the others tended to do, though with them heading out and back again, she had little understanding for why they’d bother to leave in the first place. She took a random guess and headed for one of the roads leading from town while her wisps scattered to the other roads leaving Solitude. With any luck, she’d intercept him herself, but if her guess of his path was wrong, perhaps the wisps could slow him enough for her to catch up.

Wisps. Magic leapt instantly to Lhaeben’s fingertips, and he prepared to defend himself. He had been on his way from the city, to the stables. He had a patrol to meet, in Dragon Bridge, but it seemed that fate conspired to delay him. He weighed his options. Cast Invisibility, and flee? Destroy the wisps with lightning? But something stayed his hand. Something was different…
The wisps, like most of their kind, had little malice in them. They circled closer to the mer, now that they’d caught his attention, oblivious to the threat of his spells, but still keeping a good many paces of distance away. Upon their approach, they turned abruptly, veering back and drifting away from the town, knowing their mother would never venture so close. He seemed in a rush as much as they could derive from their limited understanding of the matter, but distraction always seemed a possibility, and she found the black and gold clothes interesting before. If distraction failed them, though, at least they were moving away from the danger inherent in the settlements.

She was beginning to feel uneasy. What ever this was, was not human. Slowly she step round in a circle trying to follow her senses in some way. Narrowing her eyes as she caught sight of a figure in her peripheral vision. Not fully seeing what it was she maneuvered her body to try and glance round the trees as she gingerly stepped closer to the glowing blue essence that weaved through the trees.“Whose there?” Her voice was soft but firm, she was beginning to feel on edge. she didn’t know who or what she was dealing with.
The shade moved through the trees, coming closer to the passer-by. She had an almost knowing smile on her face as she spoke. “That’s what I was wondering, truthfully~ and perhaps a ‘what’ as well. You don’t seem a hunter, and to travel alone like this?” Maybe about that keen hearing as well. She didn’t add the last, but watched the woman with curiosity. “Where are you headed?”

Wisps drifted through the trees nearer to Solitude than normal, their curiosity drawing them nearer to the light of the city, despite their mother’s hesitation to draw near. Currently, they’d found a uniform of familiar (to them at least) black and gold, and were drawing closer with faint tinkling tones.

“So many travelers on these roads.” The Wispmother said more to herself as she watched the Nord pass by. “And this one moves with such purpose.” A glance around assured her that the wisps weren’t particularly near to draw much attention to themselves, so she turned back to watch the Nord, debating on saying hello herself.
A voice drifted in wind causing Natalia to stop in her tracks, skidding to a halt. Furrowing her brow she scanned the scenery, her vision trying to fix on the source of the sound. There was no scent, not a single waft of blood in the air but there was something…..different, she couldn’t put her finger on it.“Hello?”
Well. This one also had good ears. The Wispmother still wasn’t exactly eager to reveal herself, not with the wisps not having seen this girl before. Instead, she conjured the a shade. It flickered into view across the path behind the girl, casting a baleful blue glow through the trees. If that wouldn’t be enough to draw attention, the Wispmother wasn’t sure what would.

Oh dear Gods they were inside the house!!This couldn’t be happening! This was just an insane dream, he would wake up any second now and Frithjofr would be beside him, asking him what was wrong and if he wanted any porridge or something.
But the seconds ticked by and they were still there, and he could hear the Wisp herself say something to him through the door.
Curiosity? Curiosity had hurt a great many people! Just ask cats! Well, they weren’t people, but… oh good lord he was losing it from fear. He stayed exactly where he was, shaking underneath the blanket barrier and hoping they’d leave him alone soon.
As the door froze through, the creaking grew louder, but she didn’t push through. Instead, the Wispmother paid more heed to the wavering viewpoints of the wisps that filtered into her mind. One wisp made its way to the shivering blankets on the bed and circled above. Its light stretched strange shapes of shadows across the blanket as it tried to find a way in without prodding. The fear of the Nord hiding beneath them was lost on the wisp. It was more curious, especially since he’d hidden inside such an interesting place. This was the first time they’d gotten into a home, or rather, been so kindly let in by their mother.
The other wisp had veered toward some reflection of light and gotten itself tangled in the bookshelf, ricocheting between the shelves and books like a masterful game of breakout (i hear you judging. don’t be judging harshly. i love that game and this mental image will never go away now). The noise it made as it tried to free itself had the cadence of laughter, but sounded closer to the chiming of bells, nevermind the sound of books tipping off the shelf.
The Wispmother at the front door bit back a laugh, and tried so calm any further fear rising “They’re only curious about you. Hiding won’t make them go away. Why don’t you come out and say hello~”

Hadvar looked around, seeing his breath inthe cold which was unusual for near Solitude. He then spotted a Wispmother: he had met quite a few of these things in his life but they still weirded himout. He approached it, a hand on his sword. It seemed to be watching him. He frowned, he wasn’t sure he liked that.
The Wispmother watched him approach, a wan smile on her lips in the face of his frowning apprehension. She noted the hand on the sword. Ready to anything to go awry, though whether he knew how wrong it could go, she wasn’t sure. He had to be commended for approaching on eye contact alone.
The second Wispmother was more focused on the faint chimes coming from the woods as a small handful of wisps drifted closer. The other Wispmother moved in between the two, still watching the Nord as he approached, wondering just how bold he would be.
